Mark Legvold on AI and Big Tech in Minnesota

  • Protect our water from big industry, including data centers.  Minnesota families deserve clean and plentiful water from their wells and city systems and Data Centers can’t be first in line

  • Zoning of data centers should be in the right place.  Data Centers should never be close to homes and neighborhoods, and if proposed on farmland, they should only be built on the least productive land

  • Data centers and big tech shouldn’t get a better deal on energy compared to the local members of the community.  Members also shouldn’t have to pay for the upgrade to the power grid to accommodate a data center

  • Proposed data centers should have a bond put in place to remove, or repurpose the facility when the technology is no longer needed.  Costs for removal or repurposing shouldn’t be borne by local municipalities or townships.

  • AI and Big Tech should never be allowed to hide their development behind non-disclosure agreements.
