Senate District 58 is a true transitional zone, where the southern suburbs meet Minnesota’s rural breadbasket. For our state to thrive, we need to honor the diverse landscape, nourish the economies we share, and work towards growth and stability throughout the region.

    • Build a strong economy that supports higher wages

    • Create systems that lower the cost of living, so Minnesotans can afford to live where they work

    • Support programs for unhoused Minnesotans and expand locally-owned affordable housing

    • Add a new tier of income taxes for millionaires

    • Incentivize small and medium-sized communities to broaden their capacity to provide quality, affordable healthcare

    • Guarantee access to long-term care, mental health services, and vital care for disabled Minnesotans

    • Modernize the administration of health and human services, incorporating cost savings without compromising services

    • Protect women’s health autonomy

    • Protect our public funds by pursuing, prosecuting, and punishing fraudsters

    • Streamline reporting and recording systems for state agencies for greater transparency

    • Support SF 856/HF 1338 for an Independent Office of Inspector General

    • Increase per pupil funding

    • Update educational standards and assessments to meet today’s needs

    • Expand career and technical education to build a well-trained workforce

    • Give school districts flexibility in food programs to eliminate waste while helping the most vulnerable

    • Encourage diverse economic growth through small, medium, and large business development and reduce reliance on mega-corporations

    • Invest in affordable, high-quality childcare that meets community needs

    • Streamline taxes and regulations for small businesses

    • Support cooperatives as well as worker owned and locally owned businesses through grants, low interest loans, technical assistance, and mentorship

    • Encourage entrepreneurship programs, focusing on emerging sectors of the economy

    • Support family farm longevity by building a strong agricultural economy

    • Protect farmers from predatory input cost adjustments

    • Increase research and development in large-scale production of sustainable aviation fuels and other domestic markets for commodity crops in Minnesota

    • Enable local food production, processing, and marketing and emphasize locally grown products within the food chain

    • Increase access to sustainable equipment grants, soil and water conservation incentives, and professional development for farmers

    • Incentivize rehabilitation and repurposing of existing buildings

    • Improve local government aid and allow local taxation decisions

    • Partner with small and medium sized communities to protect land and water resources and reduce energy costs

    • Increase rural broadband access and affordability

    • Upgrade transit and shipping through improved rail, river, and road infrastructure

    • Develop multiple sources of power production while keeping water resources safe and secure

    • Weave sustainability into our environmental policy, protecting our land, water, and air for future generations

    • Increase access to housing and food surety programs

    • Protect veterans from predatory benefit scammers

    • Ensure access to mental healthcare and substance abuse providers

    • Refine the property tax exemption for disabled veterans

    • Increase grant funding for equipment and training for local police, fire departments, emergency management and emergency medical services (EMS)

    • Improve reimbursement for EMS calls in rural communities

    • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to standardize and fund basic officer training at the state level

    • Limit federal overreach in community policing by requiring transparency in agreements, investigations and operations
